My life from June to December.

Alright.  It’s been a while.  Not that anyone was waiting with bated breath, but I should at least update this thing more often than once every couple of months.

So here is a quick summary of my life since this June…

I interned at the Weinstein Company in Los Angeles for almost 3 months, learned a little bit, but most of all, made some new friends.  Living in L.A. was quite the experience, right down to the last day when I took my car (Fletcher) in for a routine oil change and the radiator ended up leaking antifreeze all over the concrete parking spot, which over heated the ’97 Jeep.  After a few extra panicky hours of fixing it myself, Max and I hit the road back for the east coast.  The temperature in Death Valley was over 110, sleeping in Mesquite, Nevada was miserable, Utah was beautiful, and Salt Lake City was weird.  We followed and filmed a documentary on the music group, Ace Enders and a Million Different People.  We hung out with the band for three nights in three different cities:  Salt Lake, Denver, and Kansas City.  Denver was awesome.  Driving through Kansas was very much not awesome.  Kansas City was cool because not only was the worst part of the drive behind us, but we got to stay with a good family friend, Rick Gray.  He fed us an incredible breakfast and we hit the road again.  Missouri, Illinois, and Ketucky were surprisingly peaceful and enjoyable to drive through.  Then Tennessee welcomed us back to the green vegetation of the east coast, with the pinnacle of that moment on the Blue Ridge Parkway after we crossed into my home state of North Carolina.  We stayed with my great friend Rosser Douglas in Asheville, then it was home to Charlotte.

I had a few short weeks in Charlotte, then it was back to Elon for the fall semester.  I edited together the documentary of Ace Enders, which you can see HERE.  My professor and I also did a music video for the song “Lost?” by Coldplay.  We entered the video into a competition that Coldplay was having, didn’t win, but we had a good time making it.  You can check that out HERE.  I worked on some corporate video here and there, including a Fish Acclimation video for Carolina Biological.  Very exciting stuff, I know.  Besides that, I bought a Nikon D80 and have been taking tons of pictures.  I was in a Photojournalism class this semester, which sparked my picture taking.

And now, here I am.  On January 2nd, I am flying to Dublin, Ireland to live and go to school until late April.  I’ll keep you people more updated than I have been, I promise.  Maybe I’ll even throw some pictures up from this semester.

Thanks for listening.

One Response to “My life from June to December.”

  1. Peyton – thanks for including me as a part of your June to December life…as for Kansas, I can understand a young man of your tender years maybe not understanding the true beauty of the “Great Plains.” For a guy like me it is “Gods Country.”
